Wheelchair Bound Man Killed in Fullerton While Crossing the Street

March 14, 2025- A 54-year-old man was killed Thursday night as he crossed West Commonwealth Avenue at Library Lane in Fullerton. Early reports say the victim was hit by a sedan at 10:50 PM while navigating an intersection that disabled pedestrians in the area have long thought was unsafe.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, the man in the wheelchair attempted to cross northbound at the intersection while the traffic signal was red. He was hit by a gray Hyundai traveling westbound on Commonwealth Avenue.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts by responding officers, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, a 41-year-old Fullerton man, remained at the scene and was not found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Driver Doesn’t Appear to Be Intoxicated, But Alcohol was Discovered at the Scene

Investigators discovered alcohol at the scene, which they believe belonged to the pedestrian. The Fullerton Police Department is seeking witnesses with information about the crash and has provided contact details for their Traffic Accident Investigator.
